What's Handbrake?
HandBrake, equipped with lots of features, is a free cross-platform program. With the software, you can convert a DVD into formats such as MP4, MKV, AVI, etc. Also, you can customize the video resolutions for a certain devices. Have to mention, it has already had presets for Apple devices like iPod, iPhone and Apple TV. Know more about the Handbrake and its download link.

Note: If you have a Mac with a Core 2 Duo or later processor, make sure to get the 64-bit version of the software. It will speed up your ripping times over the 32-bit version of HandBrake. (Note that the latest version of HandBrake, 0.9.5, is Intel-only. If you still have a PowerPC-based Mac, you can still download version 0.9.4.)

Step 1: Download Handbrake and VLC media player.

Step 2: Load DVD disc to PC and launch Handbrake.
Click "Source" to import DVD folder to Mac, choose it and click open. Then Handbrake will scan the DVD content. It will takes several minutes or half an hour to finish scanning.

Step 3: Do output settings
I would like to select MKV file as output file. Once the format is selected you can select other settings such as video quality, audio track, Audio Sample Rate, bitrate, Picture Settings, etc.

Also, you have other video collections like MOD, AVCHD, TOD, etc and want to play them back on Samsung Galaxy S2. Have checked Handbrake out, you can't even load them into the program. How to solve such hassles? AVCHD Converter for Mac is available for Mac users to convert also any video or audio file formats to Samsung Galaxy S2, Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1, Samsung SGH series mobile phones, etc.
